Brownout makes some groovy shit. Formed by members of Grupo Fantasma--you know, the Grammy nominated Austin band that backed Prince at Coachella in 2008--it's no wonder these guys pump out funky tunes. They sound like they chained James Brown in the kitchen of a cantina in Laredo, fed him LSD, and forced him to perform.
With 2 albums and 1 remix album already released (Homenaje in 2008, Aguilas & Cobras in 2009, and Aguilas & Cobras--Remixed and Regrooved in 2010), Brownout is here to stay. Check out their upcoming shows, including a set with rapper Chingo Bling at The Mohawk.
